

Another high point of the quarter for the Institute was the awarding of Turkey’s prestigious Islamic Economics Award to IPS’ founding chairman and now Patron-in-Chief Prof Khurshid Ahmad by ILKE Foundation in Istanbul, in recognition of his lifelong contributions to the field. Apart from these collaborative efforts, the Institute hosted talks by Prof Monzer Kahf from Istanbul, Dr Dietrich Reetz from Berlin and Dr Shariq Siddiqui from USA on the topics of Islamic finance, Muslim activism and Muslim philanthro- py respectively.

A seminar was held in collaboration with Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU), and Qmentum Consulting on healthcare delivery system in Pakistan, whereas a lecture by Federal Shari’at Court (FSC)’s acting chief justice Dr Syed Muhammad Anwar on domestic violence was arranged at Fatima Jinnah Women Universi- ty (FJWU) in Rawalpindi. Another joint venture with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) yielded a two-day workshop on humanitarian journalism.
